Details and trip report coming very soon!
We put in at the AGFC Kirkpatrick Public Access boat ramp in Dalton, AR. Just behind the Dalton general store.
As soon as we put in, we came across this set of swift, small Class II rapids. These are about the size/speed of all of the other rapids we came across on this trip. We chose to go to the right. Actually, with the exception of two sets, we chose the right side for the whole trip.
There are also a few areas which have swift water which goes around a small island or beach, but no strainers or obstacles.
The scenery along the way was beautiful. We saw lots of wildlife including the occasional large fish, Blue Herons, Green Herons, Starlings, Sparrows, Blue Jays, River Cooter turtles and lots of cows. ;)
The entire trip included lots of downed trees...left, right and center. There are a few areas which will require you to choose the left or right path around large islands. Most of the sections to the left are blocked by debris, so it is safest to stick to the right.
DJ was getting restless toward the end of the trip and decided he would swim from boat, to boat, to boat. This made taking photos extremely...challenging.
When you see the rainbow A-frame house on the right, you're coming up on the bridge at Highway 90. Start paddling for the left bank.
